Re-Line Process

Our re-line process consists of 6 main steps which are detailed and illustrated below.

INSPECTION
First all cores are sorted by FMSI number and visually inspected. Any cores that do not meet our standards are rejected immediately. Any noticeable damage to a core will result in the core being destroyed.

  WASH
Second, all inspected cores are washed at 195 degrees with an anti-rust soap removing all grease, dust and any excess material on the core. This step will allow the core to process more efficiently.

  DE-LINE
Third, the old lining is removed and disposed of.

  SHOT-BLAST
The forth step is shot-blasting. The steel core is loaded into a shot blasting machine where it is shot blasted with millions of steel balls. This process removes old rust, paint and scale that have accumulated on the shoe, resulting in a shoe as clean as new.

PAINT
In the fifth step, the shoe is painted with BMS surcoat 250 paint formulated for a superior paint job and the reduction of rust jacking.

RE-INSPECTION
The sixth step is to re-inspect the shoe again once it has been painted and has dried. Each shoe is individually inspected using Fraser gauges, which are designed to check shoe table wear, shoe stretch, anchor pin wear and table depth. Rivet holes are also inspected and any shoe with two or more oblong rivet holes are rejected. Any shoe failing to pass any one of the inspections will be destroyed.

  RE-LINE
After the shoe has passed inspection the new lining is installed. Using BMS GripRite rivets only. All of our rivetors are designed to compensate for table depth, elongated rivet holes and or any other difference in the shoe or lining.

TORQUE TESTING
The final step is torque testing. During the lining process every 25th shoe is torque tested at a minimum of 23 inch-pounds and max of 32 inch-pounds. If the torque is less than 23 or more than 32 the anvil is adjusted or changed. All anvils are changed every 2000 shoes regardless of rivet torque.

Through out this process all of our shoes undergo multiple quality inspections to ensure that we deliver a quality product to our customers. Our machines and process maybe industry standard but our quality and customer commitment exceed others by far.
